Every year around December, the designer and streetwear e-commerce retail platform SSENSE, holds a “clearance” sale to free up capital and inventory for the upcoming season. The sale usually begins pretty mediocre, but over the following weeks, new items are added, and discounts are increased. At the time of writing, the highest discounts are up to 70% off on select items. These prices are so competitive that the individual brands who offer their items on the platform are outcompeted by SSENSE’s prices. (This is a very polarizing topic amongst small brands offered the opportunity to sell on the platform), but that’s a topic for another day.
Thousands of listings can be very tiring and overwhelming to scroll through, so that's where I come in. I’m here to show you the brands I deem as having:
The Best Deals in This Year’s SSENSE Sale (In No Specific Order)
1.
Suicoke shines at adapting and innovating modern footwear designs. Their craftsmanship is phenomenal, as well as the quality of materials used. The use of Cordura and Gore-Tex make them a staple in the gorpcore style community. I want to say their Moto Sandals were their first hit item. All the pop culture celebrities were wearing them. Nowadays, they’re doing collaborations with notable designers such as thisisneverthat, Kid Super, and TheSoloist. Collaboration with individual designers is what people really like to see out of big brands.
Here are a few of my favorite Sale items from Suicoke on SSENSE:
- Black Pepper-LO-ab Loafers $156
- Beige BOWER-Mod-ev Boots $198
- Depa Cab Sandals $63
- Grey Pepper EVAB Loafers $150
- Black ZAVO-VS Slippers $127
2.
Praying is just one of those “low effort, but in a cool way brands.” Who else would I fit into that category? OnlineCeramics, ERD, idk. You probably know Praying from their collaboration with Adidas and Addison Rae last year that struck controversy amongst triggered Christians. Contrary to popular belief, they are currently one of my favorite streetwear brands. Nearly their full catalog is on SSENSE, and most of it is discounted.
Here are a few of my favorite Sale items from Praying on SSENSE:
- Silver Shield Sunglasses $79
- Brown Who's Laughing Hoodie $114
- Blue Rotisserie Chicken Hoodie $122
- Blue Holy Trinity Hoodie $97
- Brown God's Favorite T-Shirt $39
3.
Arguable one of if not THE best Japanese designers of all time. Issey Miyake, but more specifically his sub-label Homme Plissè; The male focused branch off of Pleats Please. The name speaks for itself. Every garment meticulously made with high quality materials and exotic colors. Their prices are extremely fair considering the time and craftmanship behind each garment. Nearly their entire SSENSE catalog is discounted as well.
Here are a few of my favorite Sale items from Praying on SSENSE:
- Green Grass Field Sweater $322
- Navy Tailored Pleats Trousers $225
- Black Edge Shirt $219

5.
A newer Paris based fashion label that has emerged in the last decade. Y/Project consistently toes the line between avant-garde and ready to wear fashion. Their most notable piece being the Cowboy Jeans which, love or hate them, trailblazed this era of funky avant-gardist denim. Asymmetry is a motif that seems to stand out in many of their pieces. In fact, asymmetric is a good word to describe the Y/Project. Like most of the other brands on this list, their unique take on ready-to-wear fashion sets them apart in the saturated and ever-growing landscape they thrive in.
Here are a few of my favorite Sale items from Y/Project on SSENSE:
- Tan Jean Paul Gaultier Edition Sweatshirt $236
- Black Y-Belt Jeans $186
- Blue Y-Belt Arc Jeans $141
- Gray Snap-Off Denim Shirt $414
- Blue Banana Jeans $330
6.
Engineered Garments is a New York based brand, founded, owned, and designed for by Japanese American designer Daiki Suzuki. It is clear that the inspiration behind many of his pieces tie to military surplus, and no specific military. His attention to detail is unmatched when it comes to designs. All materials choices are well thought through to be comfortable, yet practical and full of utility.
Here are a few of my favorite Sale items from Engineered Garments on SSENSE:
- Gray Herringbone Jacket $214
- Blue FA Cargo Pants $166
- Navy Racing Jumpsuit $163
- Green FA Cargo Pants $304
- Beige Jacquard Vest $217
7.
This British fashion label has been pumping out phenomenal menswear since its inception in 2014. After one year, the founder Grace Wales Bonner, received a British Fashion Award for Emerging Menswear Designer. Lately, it seems as if female designers have been creating the best menswear collections, and there is no complaint. Their recent collaboration with Adidas, as well as their name drop by Kendrick Lamar in, “The Hillbillies,” has catapulted the label into the spotlight.
Here are a few of my favorite Sale items from Wales Bonner on SSENSE:
- Brown Adidas Original Edition Shorts $64
- Brown Freedom Vest $209
- Brown Kola Track Pants $231
- Brown and Orange Rhythm Shirt $270
- Blue and Brown Isle Tank Top $327
This was a fun one to make, and I bought a few things as I was piecing everything together. You’ll see it for sale on Y2KSELLER.COM next season after it is all sold out and in season. Let me know if there’s any good deals I missed because you know I love wasting money in the name of “business expenses.”
